There is a lot of choice available when it comes to projectors, ranging in price from the very cheap and cheerful to the astronomically absurd.

On top of that, if you’re looking at 4K UHD, you’re going to have to negotiate the complexities about whether it’s native 4K or if it’s using additional chips and pixel shifts to get “near” at a cheaper price. If these are issues you ‘re having right now then end your search and read all about the Sony VPLVW270ES; a perfect entry point into true 4 K UHD.

So first, let ‘s talk photo. The projector delivers native 4 K UHD while also supporting HDR 10 and HLG using SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) panel technology. This means that you can get the highest quality of image going into the unit and you’ll be left with a smooth, fluid image devoid of any jagged edges or noise that you may come to expect from other less-optimal projectors. In addition, the SXRD panels also allow for much more precise and rich blacks that will not only show perfectly inky blacks when combined with Sony’s Triluminous technology, but also create an excellent contrast between colors. In addition, the Triluminus tech will also enable a much better representation of the primary colors with reds, yellows, and blues that look just as good, if not better, than real life.

I was looking for something to show how well this unit could do, so I grabbed 2015’s The Revenant, and yes, while this may be an older movie, it was shot in 6 K, so you’ve got all the graphic fidelity you ‘d like to see an amazing picture. It’s been a few years since I first watched it and when I put it through this projector, I experienced the kind of vividly detailed views you can usually only see in a movie theater, with stunning views of night landscapes and water looking as beautiful as you can imagine rural America would look like. Adding Sony’s Motionflow technology to this, there’s no problem with fast panning shots meaning a certain bear scene might have been a bit crisper then I might have needed it. Having said that, the lower Lumens rating of the unit means you’re going to want to use it in a darker room rather than a light beam, but if you’re serious about home cinema, you ‘re always going to want to keep your home cinema as dark as possible.

On the installation side of things, it’s not a slouch either with a fairly impressive lens change capacity of vertical + /-80 percent and horizontal + /-31 percent and a motorized zoom of x2.06, which ensures that even if you can’t place it in the perfect location, you can still get a fantastic picture and you can get it without standing up because all these calibrations are regulated by the re. There are also 9 calibration modes built into the package, so you can adapt it to your environment without having to get too crazy with individual settings.

If you are looking for a true 4 K projector with amazing colors and black levels but don’t want to spend the earth, then the Sony VPLVW270ES is the projector you should look into right now. Why not get into your nearest Richer Sounds and arrange a demo to see for yourself this amazing projector in action?
